The idea
A grid of 100 by 100. Ten thousand squares, numbered 1 to 10,000. Each square belongs to one person, who decides what it shows: a color, an image, a flag, a drawing.
Taken one by one, a square says little. Taken together, they compose an image nobody drew alone, whose final shape no one will know before the last block.
A block is not a rented slot. It is bought once, it carries a number that will never be reassigned, and it stays editable as long as the wall is not complete.
How it works
Pick a square On the wall, free squares are visible and clickable. You can also aim for a specific number — 1, 100, a date, a figure that means something.
Customize it A color, an image, a flag or a short text. You can attach a link and a caption: on click, visitors find out where the square leads.
It is reviewed, then published Every customization goes through a review before appearing. Once approved, the square takes its place on the wall, visible to everyone.
It stays editable Change the image, the color or the link, as often as you like, at no cost. Each new version goes through review again.
What gets reviewed
The wall carries what people put on it, and it will carry it for a long time. Review is done by hand, not by an automatic filter.
Refused:
- hateful or discriminatory content, and content targeting an individual;
- sexual or violent content;
- images and trademarks you do not hold the rights to;
- links to fraudulent or deceptive sites;
- third-party personal data.
If refused, an email explains why and the square remains available for something else. Published content can be taken down if it turns out to be problematic — a report is enough.
What happens when the wall is full
When the last block is sold, the wall closes. No further change is possible, by anyone. The composition reached that day is the one that stays.
The final image is then published in full resolution under a free license, and deposited on web archives independent from the site. It goes on existing elsewhere than here.
Every block purchased also comes with a signed, publicly verifiable certificate attesting to its number and purchase date. Verify a certificate.
Pricing
A block starts at €5, paid once. No subscription, no renewal.
- The same price for everyone at any given moment, whichever square you pick.
- It rises in tiers as the wall fills up: €5 up to block 1,000, €7 up to 2,500, €10 after that.
- Every purchase receives a rank, in order of sale. The first 500 are the founders. See the founders.
- As a group, you can take a quarter: a 4 × 4 square of blocks, at half price. The wall has 625 of them, and a quarter is only reserved whole.
- Payment goes through Stripe. Card details do not pass through our servers.
- An invoice is issued for every purchase, available from your dashboard.
